Who is not a Candidate for the Listening Training program
The suitability of the Listening Training program is determined on a case to case basis prior or during the Initial Assessment. However, there are situations when the program is not recommended.
Ear-related problems such as:
- Severe Hearing Loss
- Tinnitus (as a primary concern)
- Vertigo (as a primary concern)
- Misophonia (as a primary concern)
Personality and Psychotic Disorders such as:
- Schizophrenia
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Bipolar Disorder
Addiction such as
- Substance abuse and substance-induced disorders
Primarily Neurological disorders such as:
- Epilepsy (when not medically controlled)
- Severe head injury
- Tourrette syndrome (as a primary concern)
- Parkinson's Disease
Degenerative Disorders such as:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Alzheimer and Dementia
Speech Disorders such as:
- Severe Stuttering
Physical Disabilities
- with exception of mild Cerebral Palsy
The Listening Centre is not equipped to receive clients with:
- Physically aggressive/violent behaviour
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) as a primary concern
- Moderate to severe Autism for most adolescents and adults
- Our facility is not wheelchair accessible for adolescents and adults
